To those who know me well, you will already know that my all-time favourite New Zealand filmmaker is Taika Waititi.  He is the talented, Oscar-nominated director and screenwriter who brought us such films as Two Cars, One Night (2004)Boy (2010)What We Do in the Shadows (2014), and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016).  But, most admirably, he is the writer behind the soon-to-be-released film Moana, which will see the much-anticipated introduction of the newest Disney princess. FILM REVIEW: Finding Dory (2016)

Last night, my friend and I decided that we were in the mood to see an animated flick.  At the ripe age of 23, we were expecting to be, at the very least, two of the oldest people in the theatre.  Much to our amusement, the theatre only had people in their 20’s, overcome with childhood nostalgia, hoping to score front-row seats to the film.  What were we there to see, you may ask?  We were there to see none other than Finding Dory, the sequel to the 2003 Disney/Pixar smash hit Finding Nemo, which has finally swum onto the big screen after years of anticipation. What ’50 Shades Of Grey’ Taught Me About Love

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that yesterday was Valentine’s Day.

This time last year, the movie version of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ was released.  Do you remember the story?  It involves a young college graduate named Anastasia Steele who begins dating the successful businessman Christian Grey, only to discover that he is a sexual sadist who wants to lure her over to the dark side of his deepest desires.

But what you may not know is that this story of fetishism has been read by women the world over, and apparently they find it to be very erotic and emotionally fulfilling.  All I can conclude from that is that this story must be an encyclopaedia full of information about love.
